The incidence of shoulder &/or elbow injuries in the overhead athlete is increasing and has been increasing every year for the past 10-15 years. The increase in injuries is occurring at all levels of players (youth, adolescent, college, & pros). Â Injuries to overhead athletes vary based on the sport and position. Volleyball players have a different injury than softball, baseball, or tennis players. We will discuss those differences. The types and severity of injuries pitchers and players are experiencing have changed from years past. During this master class, we will discuss in depth the following, most frequent types of injuries, risk factors of injury, and new specific types of rehabilitation techniques. Furthermore, we will discuss and demonstrate specific return-to-play testing criteria.
This webinar will provide a deep dive into the rehabilitation of shoulder & elbow injuries in the overhead athlete. Dr Wilk will discuss specific types of injuries often seen, pathomechanics of the injury, recognition of specific injuries, and the treatment of those injuries. A thorough description of the biomechanics of throwing, windmill pitching, tennis & volleyball will be explained and illustrated. We will thoroughly discuss specific rehabilitation techniques for commonly seen injuries for the baseball, softball, volleyball & tennis player. The webinar will discuss adolescent-aged athletes all the way to professionals. The discussion will include video examples, PowerPoint, case presentations & open discussion. - Define the anatomy and biomechanics of overhead sports
