Learning Goals
Upon completion of this class, you should be able to:
- Summarize the concept of Mobilization with Movement (MWM) along with its technique guidelines
- Identify spinal theories for the Mulligan Concept
Describe techniques for applying MWM for the lumbar spine, sacroiliac joint, and hip
Behavioral Objectives
- Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to explain the “PILL” acronym and expectation of a MWM application for a patient will low back pain.
- Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to adapt a central SNAG for either flexion or extension into the treatment plan for a patient experiencing low back pain when sitting or standing.
- Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to recommend a prone MWM for a patient with limited extension ROM and pain in the lumbar spine.
- Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to develop a protocol that integrates the “Lion” exercise with mobilization belt into the treatment plan of a patient with unilateral pain in the upper lumbar segments.
- Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to explain how to incorporate the self-SNAG technique to a patient with pain in the lumbar extension for their home program.
- Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to integrate the bent leg raise technique for a patient with positive LSR test in the lower extremity.
- Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to justify the use of the 2-leg rotation mobilization for a patient with a positive SLR in a lower extremity.
- Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to explain the appropriate Mulligan strategy to evaluate a SI joint condition from a lumbar segment dysfunction in a patient complaining of low back pain.
- Upon competition of the course, the participant will be able to integrate a belt technique to improve hip IR motion in a patient with a capsular pattern.
- Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to integrate a weight-bearing mobilization into the treatment plan of an athlete with tight adductors where abduction ROM at the hip is needed.
